Critical Theory is one of the oldest and largest graduate Designated Emphasis programs in the College of Letters and Science. Founded in 1985, it is today deeply woven into the life of the university, with over thirty faculty drawn from a still-growing list of affiliated departments and programs (thirteen at present) across the humanities and social sciences.

Prospective students are encouraged to contact the Chair or any of the affiliated faculty for more information about how to fulfill the requirements of the Designated Emphasis or for general advice about their plans for graduate study.

Please click the link at the left for an index of our affiliated faculty including their home departments, their research interests, their contact information, and links to their personal web pages.
